Erika Lust (of whom we are big fans here at AJAX Books) wants women directors to consider making pornography films.

While this article in Allure Magazine is focused on Erika Lust’s project to get more women directing porn, we were thinking of mainstream female directors directing porn.

Specifically, something like what Gaspar Noé did recently with his film Love. We felt Love was an exciting film because it successfully explored the movement between pornography and reality.

We need more of this exploration.

We here at AJAX Books would love to see something from mainstream makers. Porn was experiencing a high in the 1970’s when mainstream reviewers were analyzing pornographic films.

We’d love a return to something like that.

Porn doesn’t have to be classy, but it can be exploratory. We would argue it already always is.
